I'd recommend it for Maomao, its medical mysteries and the pleasure of seeing it discover a poison that all the experts had overlooked.
You'll love it if you're looking for palace intrigue, dry humor, and a very smart protagonist who isn't trying to impress anyone.
Unlike the usual heroic detective, Maomao solves cases because she is fascinated by poisons, medicines and bodies; helping the court is almost a consequence of his curiosity.
