Sun Wukong, the Monkey King, is released from imprisonment to escort the monk Tang Sanzang westward in search of Buddhist scriptures. With Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, he crosses kingdoms ruled by demons hoping to devour the monk, and must restrain his… pride and enormous power in order to protect the group and complete a journey of redemption.
I'd recommend it because of Sun Wukong, the road demons, and a group of pilgrims who argue as much as they save each other.

What makes it different is that it does not simply adapt the classic journey: it begins after the pilgrimage and turns the sutra and Heaven itself into part of a conspiracy.
