Kunon was born blind and decides to create new eyes through water magic rather than let others define his limits. Within months he surpasses his tutor, learns to perceive shapes through water, and turns every daily obstacle into an experiment; his cu…riosity leads him toward the academy and spells no one has attempted, though his talent also attracts political and personal expectations.

I'd recommend it because of Kunon's curiosity and how satisfying it is to see him get closer to magical eyes experiment by experiment.
It's a good fit if you're looking for creative magic, learning and a protagonist who does not accept other people's limits.
Unlike other stories about curing a disability with a miracle, Kunon designs a way of seeing from scratch using water magic and experimentation.
