High school student Hitomi is transported from Earth to the magical world of Gaea, where she meets boy prince Van Fanel, and is caught up in his quest to unite the countries of Gaea against the ominous Zaibach empire. On the way, she discovers an hid…den ability and strives to unravel layers of mystery surrounding Van, his past, and the giant machine known as Escaflowne.
I'd recommend it for its adventure, its romance and a mix of mecha and medieval fantasy that still has a lot of personality.
It's a good fit if you're looking for travel to another world, war, destiny and shōjo sensibility.
Unlike other mecha isekai, Hitomi uses tarot and visions within a draconic robot war; romance and prophecy drive battles as much as weapons.
More anime like The Vision of Escaflowne, selected by genre, theme and viewing style.
