I'd recommend it for its travel group, its yokai, and the naughty romance between Kagome and Inuyasha.
You'll enjoy it if you're looking for long adventure, feudal Japan, action and a romance that progresses between monsters.
What sets it apart from other feudal adventures is that Kagome can return through the well to modern Japan, so she alternates demons and jewel fragments with exams, uniforms and school life.
